| | History Albert - Alfred - Crosby - Victoria: Built in 1972, at the Richard Dunston Yard in Hessle, Hull. The Alfred, Yard No 5881; Crosby, 5882, Albert, 5883 and the Victoria, 5884. All purchased by the Alexander Towing Company in 1972, to work in the Liverpool area, with all tugs undertaking many sea towing contracts. Powered by a Ruston 9 Cylinder Diesel, pumping out 2,190 horsepower through a massive Kort nozzle, giving an impressive bollard pull of 40 tons. Measuring 32.6m in length, 9m beam, draught of 4.9m and at 277 gross tonnage, to date they are all still in service around the world, with the Crosby now in Mahon harbour on the island of Menorca. |
